Everywhere
including the corporate sector, man-management has been at the centre of
discussion with a view to register better all-round growth. It is but natural
as there can’t be anything more important than its main stakeholders - the
people associated with it. Maybe they are the family members, the employees,
the clients, the service providers and others. If the relationship with them is
good and the aim is to improve it further, then there can hardly be any major
problem in growing well year-after-year. Yes, there are certain proven ways to
maintain good interpersonal relationships both at home and outside. To say, the
miracle of three small words – hello, smile and sorry can very well be realised
by individuals, government departments, corporate entities and all others, if
these words are used suitably. Let us discuss the impact of these three words:
HELLO: This word
is very widely used and is equally very impactful. Normally, this is the first
word we utter while responding to any telephone or mobile call. Isn’t it? Of
course, a few people use namaste or namaskar in place of saying hello. The idea
is almost the same. While going out to the office or market or any other place,
we come across several people whom we know. The moment we see each other, we
instantly say hello or namaste and/or wave our hand/ bow down our head not only
to recognise and greet them, but also to renew and cement that relationship.
When we enter our office, we do start the day with good morning, namaste or
hello to greet each other. Do you do that? I know you do. Now when you say
hello to a person, it has a positive impact on your personality, interpersonal
relationship, mood improvement etc. To create an atmosphere of goodwill and to
start the day on a positive note, this word plays an effective role. Yes, its
impact gets multiplied when you say hello first. If at all you are not in the
habit of saying hello or not saying it first, you are negatively impacted
whether you accept it or not. There are several surveys on what the other
person feels when you don’t respond to his or her saying hello to you. Yes,
that person feels very bad and it has multiple negative effects on many aspects
of life. So, it is better to use this word on every opportunity you get and
feel the positive change in your life on an on-going basis.
SMILE: Yes, the
smile is one of the simplest and healthiest ways to improve your appearance.
After all, who likes a gloomy or morbid face? That is the reason every
photographer takes your photo with a ‘Smile Please’ request. Actually, the
smile on your face is the message of friendship and brotherhood. All of us feel
good when we meet with a smile. You too must have enjoyed a child’s smile which
is so captivating and nice that for a moment you forget all your problems. In
all successful negotiations, it’s an unsaid prerequisite to meet and begin the
deliberation with a smile and also conclude and say goodbye with a smile.
That’s why after the conclusion of negotiation everybody smiles during the
photo session to reflect clearly about the successful outcome. But do all of us
use this absolutely free tool to make our life and also the life of others
around us better and happier? Let us introspect to find out the reality and
take corrective measures in this respect. Anyway, nobody can dispute the
unanimous opinion of experts that the natural smile on your face reflects the
high level of your energy and enthusiasm that are very necessary to remain
healthy, happy and productive. It is also true that such persons are better
equipped to manage their anxiety and stress almost everywhere. So, the smile
must be your natural companion.
SORRY: All of us
commit some mistakes or even blunders – small or big in our life. This may
happen both knowingly and unknowingly. Now, if anybody claims that he has not
made any mistake in life so far, either he is lying or has not lived his life
in a normal manner. But committing mistakes one after the other and repeating
the same mistake is not at all good. Moreover, if somebody is not feeling sorry
or is resisting to say sorry, that is definitely bad. Whether it is your home
or office or any other place, please follow the simple principle that if you
feel you have committed a mistake or done anything wrong, may be small or big;
noticed by others or not, you will instantly seek apology and say sorry.
Believe me, you will be the beneficiary of many good things in life.
As always, I'm keen to know what you think on this subject. Hence, I request you to post your comments to share your valuable opinion. (hellomilansinha@gmail.com)
